Ergonomics and Anthropometry Part 1

1.The man in black clothes' desk is preferred as his desk is very neat and not cluttered with objects, hence, making it very 'clean'.However,on the other hand, the man in white clothes' desk is very cluttered with objects and with no freedom on the desk at all.

2.The height of the chair, space on the table and the stuff that is on the table.

3.The height of the chair determines the eye level of the person to the work station, the space on the table determines whatever freedom the person has and the stuff on the table determines whether there is space on the table or not.

5 essential questions

The 5 essential questions
1)Is the product do-able in the 1st place?
2)Will people come to accept the product when it is implemented?
3)Does it integrate into the elderly's daily lives?
4)Is it possible with today's technology?
5)Will the product help the elderly with life not be more of a hindrance
Ranking
1,5,2

Reasons why I chose them
I chose no.1 as the most important one as I felt that it was an important question,as at the end of the day,no matter how many fantastic ideas a person might have,if the person is not able to implement them into the real world and really make the product into a reality, all would be wasted and he will start out at square 1 again and previous efforts would all be in vain.

I chose no.5 as the second most important one as,if the product does not suit your target audience,or your target audience is not able to use it,they would have wasted their money buying the product and not buy the next few generations/versions of the product and not recommend it to others. It is the same case with tacky people acting to act cool by having an iPhone. They don't know how to use it and eventually chuck it into their cupboard and never taking it out again to use just because they couldn't find the keypad. And the next day they waste more money buying another phone with a keypad. However, people who are smart enough to use the iPhone, they brought iPhones from one to another, upgrading their systems when a new version comes out, buying another when their hardware is outdated, earning Apple inc. a lot of profit.

I chose no.2 as the third important as if people do not come to accept the fact that the product is helpful to them and it is something important to their lives they must have. They would probably be reluctant to buy it and sales would not be good.It is like the case of NEwater. It is essential to Singapore and without it,Singapore would have have a hard time coping with its water supply in the near future, but however,up till today, some people still can't accept the fact that they are drinking 'shit' water.

CAI elderly report

1)The first recommandation aims to provide suitable housing for the elderly. The elderly will be able to choose their own houses which will meet their needs and that will be convenient to the elderly will be able to choose their own houses which will meet their needs and that will be convenient to them. The second one is accessibility for the elderly. It will make life easier for the elderly by providing better transport systems. The third one is caring for the elderly. It aims to provide medical treatment for the elderly, especially the jobless ones. The last one aims to provide opportunities for the elderly to make more friends for them to talk to when they are bored.

2)They suggesting to make public housing more elderly friendly by asking HDB to allocate more flats for the elderly to rent out for people who rather rent then buy the house.

3)We can ensure the quality by injecting more funds into less well off elderly's medical save for them to see the doctor and encouraging family physicians to provide first line medical care for the elderly.

4.I can help by letting my seat on public transport to any elderly I see, help a elderly in distress whenever I see them(like them falling down, crossing the road,e.g)and maybe set up a blog/facebook group to promote the welfare of the elderly and how we can help them

View from outside the door.Door can be slided open for connivence of the elderly.
View from the top of the apartment with the ceiling.
The toilet bowl. That is footholds for the elderly to balance himself/herself while getting on/down.
The kitchen cupboard. It is at eye level so the elderly don't have to reach up to high places and risk falling down
The shower. The elderly can easily adjust the angle of the shower head by stepping on the foothold that is attached to a pulley system that is also attached to the shower head.
The sofa is placed near to the door so the elderly can sit down at once when they reach home and they are tired.Note that there is not steps/ramp from outside and inside of house.

A clearer version of the previous picture

The only flowers I could find during visting.
Got this from a pray cloth.Though it might look like a painting on cloth.
A zoomed out version of the previous photo.I chose this picture as I think the design of a rice vat with the background of a auspicious word as a CNY decoration is pretty meaningful.

Bad Designs

Using the Mac book for a period of time,I have noticed the Mac book can get heated up to unbelievable heat levels!!.Also according to the iStat Pro widget, the CPU can reach a staggering temperature of 70Degree Celsius!!I have also noted that heat is ingested through the keyboard before being blown out at the back.(As seen in picture)That means that if the back would be covered, all the heat that would be blown out would be trapped inside the computer, overheating it and destroying its circuits.Things would be disastrous! No one would want to pay another 2k plus for a replacement unit due to their carelessness! So I suggest that maybe they should build the laptop with a built-in external cooler and another built-in retractable stand that would ensure the laptop base be not in contact with the surface. The cooler would help vacuum out particles struck in the back.

Singapore Environmental Policies/Campaigns

Singapore Environmental Policies/Campaigns
1.ECO Singapore
Environmental Challenge Organization (Singapore), or ECO Singapore, is a not-for-profit social enterprise. Registered in 2003,ran solely only by volunteers,it was only in December 2005 when ECO Singapore began operationalising herself.ECO Singapore aims to establish a voluntary environmental problem, its mission is to encourage youths to take initiative and choose to live environmentally sustainable lifestyles.
2.Singapore government leads campaign for nature
COMPARED to other countries in the region, Singapore has a head start in the race towards "greenness". The country already prides itself on being a tidy, efficient, "clean and green" metropolis — thanks largely to a government that uses self-sponsored media campaigns to shape social behavior. 3.Urban environmental policy — The use of regulatory and economic instruments in Singapore
In urban environmental policy-making, regulatory and economic instruments are two main types of tools used to achieve policy goals. The paper initially reviews Singapore's efforts to achieve and sustain a high-quality urban environment. It looks at the country's various urban environmental policies in the spheres of population, natural resources, technology, consumption, and transportation. It then discusses the role of Singapore's regulatory and economic instruments such as its strict emission standards in the environmental sectors of air, water, solid waste and noise quality, its tight land-use planning controls, and its innovative traffic congestion tax scheme. It is suggested that the main factors which contributed to the country's success in using these instruments are its political leadership and technical expertise, economic prosperity, an efficient administration and a supportive law-abiding populace.

What is research?

1.To me,research is the process of finding out information and to fish out information from reliable sources.
2.Research is important as without it,we would be completely ignorant of things happening around us and it helps us understand how and why things are about.
3.In order to conduct good research,we must be sure our sources are reliable and not just 'copy and paste' as it is immediate extortion and not our own effort.

ADMT Lesson 1: Personal Reflection

1)ADMT is art and design to me.
2)Without ADMT,the world would be a very boring and dull place.
3)It would to be able to polish my sketching skills and learning advanced animation.
4)Non-flat TV,Lousy plane design, what basketball may still look like....
